CONSULTANT
Danielle Bierzynski, Ed.D. has worked in the field of education for nearly two decades. She currently works at the University of Virginia where she serves as the Curriculum and Instruction Ed.D., Cohort Manager and teaches courses focused on critical race theory and social and emotional learning in education. Her research interests include adult learning, psychoanalytic theories of human development, social and emotional learning, critical race theory, and issues of diversity and equity. Danielle brings an empathetic approach to her work, given her various experiences in both the public, private, and non-profit sectors.
Danielle started her work as an 8th grade ELA teacher in her hometown of Brooklyn, NY and then taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students in D.C. public schools through an experiential education non-profit. At both the district level and in the private sector, she developed curricular materials and designed professional development for a range of audiences including students and teachers. She has also done work for the state of Maryland, facilitating root-causes analyses with priority schools to support in their strategic planning for improving academic achievement. Danielle has served as a reviewer and has presented at several conferences, including the American Educational Research Association (AERA). She also served as the chair of the Graduate Student Committee for the American Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies.
Danielle currently serves on the Board of Trustees at Thurgood Marshall Academy in Washington, DC. She earned her B.A. from American University, her M.A. from Brooklyn College, and her EdD. from George Washington University.
